Hiya, my name is Lucy Hollister. I am 18 years old and have lived in the beautiful county of Somerset all my life! I love living in such a rural community as everyone is so close. I am currently studying hard for my A-level exams in June which will then take me on my next adventure to university. In September I will be studying psychology and behavioural sciences at a top 10 UK university. I’ve held a passion of this topic, particularly individual difference, since a young age as I watched my sister struggle with dyslexia. I love sport and play hockey, rugby and cricket, these sports are primarily known as male sport but by joining in I hope to make a difference for future generations. I believe mental health is just as important as physical health that’s why my chosen platform is Mental health among teenagers, there is so much pressure on teens to try and fit in with society. Everyone is different and that’s what makes the world such an interesting place and we should celebrate this. In my spare time I volunteer at the local youth centre which I have been doing for the past 7 years. It’s so nice to give back to my community and meet the people who makes the town what it is. I started pageants because I was bullied from a young age, pageants have taught be how to love myself and be proud of who I am. I now want to use this new found love to empower girls and young females to make the most out of every opportunity and to appreciate the things that make you special. The Miss Diamond Pageant is far more than a pageant, it’s a celebration of diversity and cultures, a support system and a family
